A friend just told me that she spotted this article I submitted on Apartment Therapy featuring my parents’ garden. I told my dad and he was happy, and told me that the garden has blossomed so much literally and figuratively since those pictures were taken (not too long ago). Proud of my parents, and forever in awe of nature and how we co-exist.

I wonder...
Selfishness gives you the kind of sense of direction that runs you straight into the ground. The thing is… a person may only realize this once it has become a consequence. Also, why do so many people expect to be praised for the nice things they do?

– David Simon (via soupsoup) The more I watch and read about The Wire, the less I accept David Simon’s vision of the decline of US America. For starters, David Simon gives himself too much credit. The Wire is a game changer only because the rest of television, film, newspapers and journalism have...

I have time to iron my sheets, I just don’t want to. But other things are harder. Try it: “I’m not going to edit your résumé, sweetie, because it’s not a priority.” “I don’t go to the doctor because my health is not a...

What does believing mean? It’s not just anything I believe in because I believe in many things… some of which are mere, fleeting thoughts. The “I don’t cares”. Beliefs in the context of importance. The immaterial. For me, anyway.

Sometimes I wish I could be ignorant again. Not for ignorant’s sake, but for peace of mind.  I guess I could have it if I just accepted things. But I can’t help and stand up for what I believe in. According to one philosophical theory, my first order desires are not in alignment with my second order desires. Therefore, I am not completely free.

Some things that make me cry
When animals die in movies Things in front of me that are overwhelmingly beautiful… or when something overwhelming beautiful is happening When something happens in front of me that makes me question humanity’s innocence A workout that seriously challenges my body and mentality
